Genoa, July 20th, 2001 - Chi non ha memoria, non ha futuro

Without judgement for anyone, but we cannot forget what happened just few months before the 9/11 apocalypse, that July 20th 2001.

The usual and sad italian weakness.

We don't remember, "they" don't want to let people remember our common past, what we should have learnt from the '70s movements. They prefer people live with a sort of short-term memory loss.
If citizens are not aware of their own history, if we don't have any recall of past errors..if there are still many young people who ignore (and don't care about that) the name of the current Prime Minister, if we just follow "others' dream", the one we see on the shining screen..well, I truly think that we will be kids forever, left in a vegetative state, without any chance to awake our critical consciousness.

Nobody won those days. And we still don't have a clear snapshot of the true responsibilities. Not that poor cop. Not that poor protester.

There's only one big loser, the national security system, that was not able (or didn't want) to manage an extremely difficult situation, and to previously create a map of the black blocks' network and avoid any overlapping among them.

I was personally shocked by the crude images coming from Diaz school the day after Carlo's death. The worst page in Police's history....Shame forever on all those "puppets" who participated to that violence that was soincomprensibile and shameful.

Please do not forget..it was a real WAR.
